On Tuesday 27th August, the mission heads from around 25 federations met with the Organising Committee in order to prepare for their trip to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy. Led by the department of sports, this meeting gave the Committee the opportunity to present the Federations with any issues that may concern them in view of the 2014 event.
“It is important that the foreign federations recognise all of the work that has been done,” said Pascal Dubois, National Technical Manager of the French Equestrian Federation. The chefs de mission of the 25 federations in attendance were talked through the entire sporting calendar and the different competition sites, as well as all of the services set up for the athletes, i.e. the horses, during the world’s greatest equestrian event. “It was very interesting to hear all of the new information about the event” confirmed the German federation’s chef de mission. Practical details were also dealt with, such as accreditations, accommodation, transport, and catering. There was also a presentation about the ticketing strategy, and about the official shop’s merchandise and the future Games Village, which will house not only the exhibitors but also several entertainment areas. “I think that we got most of the answers to our questions today; all of the organisers seem to really want to please us” said the chef de mission from the South African federation. This feeling is shared by Pascal Dubois: “It was a very positive day for everyone and the test events were also successful. Everyone is going home with the belief that the event will be a success.”
Just under a year before the start of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy, the Organising Committee is entering the final phase of their project to welcome 1,000 top-class horses and competitors in the best possible conditions on Norman soil.
